District is an
editorially independent, student-run newspaper for the Savannah College of Art and Design. It’s award-winning online articles and print publication reflect the student voice of SCAD through curated art and word.
The goal of this project was to design a logo and bespoke visual identity system across District’s digital and print media. This effort was made in response to a necessity for consistent branding across digital and pint media well as a part of announcing District’s first e-magazine publication, District: In Bloom.

The District logo mark is an homage to the ever-present landmarker next to student housing, the Savannah Bridge, with insect anatomy resembling SCAD’s mascot, the bumblebee. The new logo had to complement the typographic logo established by then-current directors of District and sustainable for future leadership re-brands.
Symbolism of the logo reflects the documentation photography and art utilized in District’s student media to depict student-life. This new approach brought an evolving identity that current students would find nostalgic and new students would easily recognize and could see their work being displayed on all platforms.
